Art on Utility

I dig this electricity box or whatever it is. It was painted a couple of years ago by one of my favorite local artists, David Spear. He was asked to do this as a deterrent to rash of graffiti artists that had been defacing public property in the District. I can't think of a better way to dress up ugly stuff that no one really notices. All four sides are painted with musicians which also tied in to the inaugural Roots & Blues & BBQ Festival in 2008 for which David painted the festival poster. Just one of the cool things I love about Columbia.

I really enjoyed reading your EBlogger. I didn't know you were a journalism major.... interesting. You must get to know a TON of people working for the chamber. I've only been to Missouri once when I was 24, for a family reunion with the "kin" from Iowa. They decided to meet up at a YMCA camp somewhere in the Ozarks. It was August and there was no friggin' a/c in the cabin - I thought I'd die! The Ozarks were beautiful - stunning, actually. Very green and lush. Have you ever been to North Carolina? It's very pretty here, too. Ciao for now, girl!
